This stirring documentary follows social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory, as he demonstrates music's ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. Alive Inside's inspiration and emotional story left audiences humming, clapping and cheering at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the audience award.

The Alzheimer's Association premier training program uses a combination of methods including lecture, small and large group exercises, video presentations, and role-playing to teach students how to provide effective and compassionate care to residents with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.
 
The comprehensive curriculum includes:
• Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders
• Communication and the Influence of Staff on Behaviors
• Successful Strategies for Dealing with Difficult Behaviors
• Helping with Hygiene and Personal Care
• Sexuality and Intimacy in the LTC Setting
• Creative Approaches to Activity Programming
• Caring for the Caregiver

Cost: $90 includes 6 CEUs, lunch and refreshments.
(CEUs available for CNA, HHA, LMFT, LCSW, RN, LVN, Nursing Home or RCFE Administrators)
